
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors meets once every third week of the month at 7:30 PM, alternating locations between Stations 13 and 19.
Daniel C. Brown
President
President Daniel C. Brown started with Stoney Point in 1966. He initially served as a volunteer firefighter and was later elected to the Board of Directors in 1970, where he still actively serves today. President Brown is a retired Black & Decker employee, and he and his wife, Larue, enjoy their grandchildren.
Larry D. Townsend
Vice-President
Vice-President Larry D. Townsend joined the Stoney Point Board of Directors in 2008. Larry retired from the U.S. Army in 1992 after 20 years of service. He continues serving our nation as a government service employee on Fort Bragg, where he is a member of the United States Army Special Operations Command. Larry’s served as a firefighter and treasurer for the Anderson Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Harnett County, NC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from East Carolina University and, a Masters in Administration (Public) from Central Michigan University. He and his wife Kathie reside in the Lake Upchurch area. They have 4 sons and 5 grandchildren.
Angus R. Pate
Secretary
Secretary Angus R. Pate has served on the Board of Directors from 1993 to the present. He is a retired Fort Bragg civil service employee and is currently employed with local medical company as a courier. Mr. and Mrs. Pate, who recently retired as a Cumberland County School teacher, enjoy their children and grandchildren. Their youngest son, David, serves as a professional contract firefighter overseas.
J. Gary Turlington
Treasurer
Treasurer J. Gary Turlington first joined the Stoney Point Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in the 1983 and served actively until he moved away in 1985 to join the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. He returned in April 2011 and now serves on the board. Gary retired from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in 2015 and now serves as the training officer for the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.
Joel A. Siles
Director
Director Joel A. Siles has served on the Board of Directors since 2005. He is a retired North Carolina Highway Patrol sergeant residing in the Stoney Point district. Joel is married with teenage children, and currently works for Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) as a Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) instructor.
Roger F. Hall
Director
Director Roger F. Hall joined the Stoney Point Board of Directors in 2016. Roger is a retired colonel with 31 years of service in the North Carolina National Guard and a retired insurance agency owner of 35 years. He currently operates the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) License Plate office in Hope Mills. He and his wife Beverly reside in the Lake Upchurch area and have two grown children living in the Raleigh area.
